#Security #camera hacking: Here's how to stop it from happening to you
| #TpromoCom #CyberSecurity | #Hackers can compromise your home security and privacy. A few basic measures can make it a lot harder for them. https://bit.ly/3zuuYpH

Last year, an ADT home security customer noticed an unfamiliar email address connected to her home security account, a professionally monitored system that included cameras and other devices inside her home.

That simple discovery, and her report of it to the company, began to topple a long line of dominoes leading back to a technician who had spied, over the course of four and a half years, on hundreds of customers -- watching them live their private lives, undress and even have sex.

Former Dallas-area ADT technician gets prison time for hacking into customers’ home security video feeds

Former Dallas-area ADT technician gets prison time for hacking into customers’ home security video feeds | #TpromoCom #ADT #Technician #CCTV #Legal | Sarah Freele said she hired ADT for her family’s safety and peace of mind (msn). https://bit.ly/3wjrSmJ

But the technician who worked on her home security cameras, she said, might as well have been hiding in her bedroom closet for months, peeking through a crack in the door.
This is a horrible thing to happen to anyone let alone all the folks that this installer criminalized. I'm sure ADT is appalled at what he did as much as the rest of us in security. It's any alarm company's worst nightmare come true. Let's hope that the blackeye that all of us  just got will pass quickly and the public will forgive and forget. -Al Colombo

ADT Files Trademark Lawsuit Against Amazon's Ring Security Brand

#ADT Files #Trademark #Lawsuit Against Amazon’s #Ring Security Brand
 | #TpromoCom | ADT asserts that Amazon Ring willfully infringed on the company’s blue octagon design for stickers and yard signs, creating brand recognition and customer confusion issues. https://bit.ly/3ezkAU9

According to recent court filings in the southern district of Florida, ADT has filed a willful trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuit against Amazon’s Ring brand of security products and services.

The court proceedings come as a result of ADT noticing Ring’s use of the company’s famous blue octagon mark, which is protected under numerous federal trademark registrations. (read more)
It would appear that Ring didn't do their homework on ADT and it's past defensive strategy. Back in the day, anyone who fashioned a yard sign or decal even remotely similar to ADT's design ran the risk of being drawn into court, and many were. In response to the yard sign, in my personal opinion, a door bell camera is not a security system. --Al Colombo
